Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for managing all activities related to the full-cycle Accounts Payable function, including supplier set up, payment, vendor statement reconciliations and related monthly/quarterly/annual reporting. This role will manage the accounts payable team and supervise and coordinate high volume accounts payable activities in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate processing of the company’s payables.  In addition, this role will maintain accounts payable controls, and drive process improvements/change to increase efficiencies.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable process, ensure effective and efficient operations of the department, and pay vendors in a timely manner according to the company guidelines, procedures and internal controls
  • Review current processes and collaborate with senior leadership to drive process improvements for increased efficiencies
  • Supervise, develop, direct and motivate the Accounts Payable team to achieve department goals
  • Maintain effective relationships with business partners/vendors through timely and accurate payment and response to inquiries
  • Oversee the Corporate Card program including Expense T&E program and Purchasing card program
  • Oversee the process around expense reports (Expensify) including reviewing accuracy of general ledger coding and eligibility for reimbursement
  • Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained for invoices and expenses in accordance with Delegation of Authority
  • Manage the vendor statement reconciliation process
  • Ensure proper maintenance, filing, and storage of Accounts Payable records.
  • Reconcile accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records
  • Assist with special projects as assigned

Leadership Responsibilities and Reporting                                       

The Accounts Payable Manager reports to the Director of Accounting and provides support to the Accounting team.  The Accounts Payable Manager will have 3-5 direct reports.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related General Business field
  • At least five years’ supervisory experience in an accounts payable role directly supervising a team of at least 2 people
  • 5+ years accounts payable experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting/US GAAP
  • Experience with Great Plains or similar accounting software
  • Experience with expense reimbursement software (e.g. Expensify) a plus
  • Experience in process improvement a plus
  • Experienced level in Excel
  • Experience and ability to work with senior leadership/cross-functional collaboration

Additional Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to continuously see, view computer monitors, give & receive oral communication
  • Must be able to sit, type, write and make fine discriminations in sound
  • Must be able to do repetitive simple grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing & pulling on a frequent basis
  • Must be flexible and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as occasionally dictated by the needs of the business and Accounting department deadlines
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in corporate office
