Job Summary

The First Watch Restaurant Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for building and managing First Watch analytical solutions. The ideal candidate will apply proven technical expertise with designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions. Also, the individual will be responsible for creating and executing queries upon request for data and presenting that information through various reporting and visualizations. The positions will partner with the First Watch business to translate business needs to technical and reporting specifications. The Business Intelligence Developer must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Being highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and adaptable is of utmost importance while maintaining a professional and positive attitude. Due to the fast-paced nature of the business, he/she must remain calm under pressure and stay focused, professional, and organized. Responsibilities will involve performing routine and occasional non-routine assignments requiring independent judgment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

•Partner with department and enterprise-wide leadership to understand and prioritize data and information requirements
•Determine strategic direction for data warehousing efforts, include architecting, building, and deployment
•Provide maintenance and support of all analytic data platforms
•Conduct testing and troubleshooting
•Continuous evaluation and tuning of BI environment
•Perform systems integrations as required
•Create visualizations and reports as requested
•Develop and maintain all technical documentation as needed
•Proactively designs/re-evaluate procedures and processes to expedite problem resolution and eliminate obstacles for end-users
•Ensures compliance with First Watch IT Policies and Procedures
•Communicates regularly with supervisor to ensure projects and objectives are prioritized and completed on time

Leadership Responsibilities and Reporting

The Business Intelligence Developer reports to the Director of Information Technology and provides direct support to this position and the SVP, IT, and SVP, Finance. This position has no direct reports.


•Bachelor's degree BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
•Minimum of five years' Data Warehousing experience
•Proven experience as a BI Developer
•Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining
•In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
•Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI)
•Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
•Knowledge of Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Warehousing, SQL Analysis Services, Azure SQL Database
•Hospitality Industry experience is preferred
•Proven abilities to take the initiative and be innovative
•Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude

Additional Physical Requirements

•Must be able to frequently stand, walk, view computer monitors, give & receive oral communication, bend, squat, reach above shoulder level, and discern color. Must be able to occasionally sit, drive, type, and make fine discriminations in sound
•Must be able to do simple repetitive grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing & pulling on a frequent basis
•Must possess a valid driver’s license and drive to and from work locations when requested/required
•Must be able to travel on rare occasions, as needed, for company business
•Must be flexible and willing to work a varied schedule that could include nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the needs of the business
