Job Description

Job Summary 

The Director of Real Estate will direct real estate functions for First Watch in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri and Kansas. Strongly preferred to be based in Chicago, IL with monthly visits to Sarasota/Bradenton First Watch home office.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities ​

  • Preparation and management of Development Market Strategies for new growth, for corporate markets
  • Working with brokers to analyze and select new site locations
  • Negotiating all aspects of Letters of Intent
  • Assist in lease negotiations and the creation of lease exhibits
  • Working with Development Team to bring all aspects of new restaurant openings together (design, scheduling, budgeting)
  • Preparing materials and presentation of new site opportunities at Real Estate Committee meetings
  • Work with development team on Real Estate Committee approved locations through to opening
  • Review and study existing locations in-region, for the purpose of making lease renewal decisions as well as to evaluate relocation opportunities
  • Conduct high-quality trade area reviews in targeted trade areas

Leadership Responsibilities and Reporting

The Director of Real Estate reports to the Vice President of Real Estate and provides support to the Development team, Real Estate Committee and other Executive leaders. This position currently has no direct reports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of real estate experience specializing in site selection or restaurant/retail leasing
  • Strong negotiating skills required
  • Must be strategically oriented with strong background in site selection, in the Midwest states
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills are required
  • A high level of competency in computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required
  • Residence in Chicago, IL is strongly preferred
