Job Description

The IT Field Specialist will be the primary resource in the installation of all IT systems on site at new restaurants. This is including but not limited to Point-of-Sale (POS), Wi-Fi \ LAN \ WAN, Computer hardware and other IT systems supporting a restaurant environment. The New Restaurant Opening Installer travels frequently and works independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, supported by a team of remote partners. While most of the work will be performed during the business week, there will be times when overnight and weekend work may be required. Accurate, timely and professional communication is key to success in this role.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, stage, configure, ship, install and test all applicable IT system components as required for new restaurant opening
  • Substantial travel is required, up to 70% of work will be on the road with travel by air and car to different regions in the US
  • Install Point of Sale (POS) hardware including but not limited to, POS terminals, cash drawers, scanners, payment terminals, printers, Kitchen Display Systems (KDS), LAN\WAN\Wi-Fi networking equipment, computer systems, and other equipment as required and approved by IT and Operations leadership
  • Test all systems to confirm functionality, troubleshooting toward full resolution of any issue that is discovered with dedicated remote IT support resources
  • Analyze problems relative to the installation work and offer solutions
  • Maintain routine communication with internal and external project managers, development resources, as well as local operators to keep up to date on scheduled assignments and changes
  • Provide active “Go Live” Support from restaurant training until opening day
  • Pull, terminate, and test low voltage cabling as needed, following established safety guidelines
  • Create detailed project documentation and close out of the assigned projects
  • Provide detailed feedback and recommendations for continuous process improvement and consistency in job execution
  • Perform clean-up of work-related debris and assure the site is left clean status which includes, but is not limited to, floors, work surfaces, ceiling tiles and all areas of the work environment within the restaurant
  • Technology generalist with the ability to follow checklists and configuration guides to ensure successful implementation and operation of restaurant technology

Leadership Responsibilities and Reporting

The IT Field Specialist reports to the Sr. Director Restaurant Technology and provides direct support to this position as well as the other technology leaders.  This role provides ongoing support to all FW employees but specifically our Operations team. 


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong knowledge of networking, ethernet networking, testing and terminations
  • Experience working in restaurant, retail or related customer facing industry
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale Systems
  • Experience working with basic hand tools and drills
  • This position will require consistent weekly travel 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet age-related requirements for rental care agreements

Additional Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand on hard surfaces, walk, sit and drive for long periods of time
  • Physically demanding position with frequent lifting/installing of objects that weigh 60-75lbs with appropriate tools and assistance
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel and reach above shoulder level while working
  • Frequent use of electric, cordless and hand tools
  • Frequent climbing and working at heights of up to 12 feet (e.g. ladders)
  • Able to perform repetitive simple grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing & pulling on a frequent basis
  • Able to continuously view paper and digital documents and computer hardware/equipment
  • Must be able to give & receive oral communication and discern color
