II.\t Job Summary

The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for month-end, quarter end and year-end reconciliation and closing processes, ensuring transactions are in accordance with U.S. GAAP. In addition, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing income statement analytics. This position will also provide direct assistance to external auditors and performing special projects as needed.

III.\t Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions in this job description are not all-inclusive of this position’s duties and responsibilities.
•Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
•Prepare accounting-related journal entries (amortization of prepaids, monthly accruals)
•Prepare detailed reconciliations of certain balance sheet accounts
•Analyze accounting problems and arrive at workable solutions. Evaluate information, identify key issues that need to be addressed and develop courses of action that effectively address the issue at hand
•Manage assigned projects by prioritizing work to meet established deadlines and ensuring that accounting objectives are accomplished while keeping Accounting Manager informed of project status and issues identified
•Preparation of supporting data for external auditors
•Maintain a strong internal control environment
•Work effectively and alongside third-party service providers (consultants, auditors)
•Work collaboratively with other Corporate functions (Development, Operations, Finance)
•Implement and develop solutions to drive accounting efficiencies
•Support other accounting related projects and functions as assigned
•Adhere to Company policies and procedures

IV.\tReporting Structure

The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager. This position does not currently have any direct supervisory responsibility.

V.\t Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Accounting/Finance; Master’s degree and CPA is a plus
•3+ years of full-time experience in accounting
•Excellent understanding of GAAP
•Ability to handle multiple, concurrent assignments
•Experience within the retail, restaurant, or similar industry that includes multiple locations in various tax jurisdictions
•Experience with and understanding of SEC rules a plus
•Experience with external auditors
•Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
•Previous experience with Great Plains and Blackline a plus
•Public Accounting experience strongly preferred

VII.\tAdditional Physical Requirements

•Must be able to continuously see, view computer monitors, give & receive oral communication
•Must be able to do repetitive simple grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing & pulling on a frequent basis
•Must be flexible and willing to work a varied schedule as dictated by the needs of the business
